Atlas Bar

This is the second edition of Excelsior, my monthly newsletter designed to help you on your journey toward mind + body wellness.

There's a lot going on behind the scenes at Atlas. Already this year, we’ve doubled the size of our team this quarter (bringing us to 8 full-time employees). More importantly, we're working on a ton of new flavors for you.

We also have some fun giveaways coming up soon, so keep an eye out.

Today

You have many days in your life, but you only have one today. Today sets the stage for what you can do tomorrow. So don’t hold back—make today count.

Cost Benefit analysis of meditation

Meditation may be the single best habit you can cultivate to improve your overall performance, health, and well-being.

1. On Clouds

"Good running shoes are a waste of money.” —Me before trying On Clouds. I've always gone with the cheapest shoes I could find, thinking that pricey shoes were all marketing fluff. I've rarely been this happy to be wrong—On Clouds really live up to their name! The first time I ran in them, I planned on testing them with just two miles, maybe three. I ended up running a half-marathon because they felt so good.

2. Think Like Elon Musk

After hearing the phrase "First Principles" multiple times, I decided to look into it. It turns out to be a mental model for problem solving and creative thinking. This model has been used by everyone from ancient philosophers like Aristotle to modern magnates like Elon Musk. This article does a wonderful job of breaking down exactly what “First Principles” means and how to use it to improve your life.

3. Unbelievable (& Healthy) Brownies

Even though I run a company that makes food, I don't understand how these are so good. These brownies have no flour—instead, they are mostly made from black beans, which are a fantastic source of protein, fiber, and many other vital mind+body nutrients.

Here's a video of me making them (I subbed in Lily's Chocolate Chips and cut maple syrup to 1 TBS).
